Unit3: Supermarkets


Supermarkets are in important part of daily life in Britian . The five biggest supermarkets sell 80% of all groceries- that's food and drink. Tesco is the biggest. It's got nearly 2, 000 shops in Britain.
In the larger spermarkets you can buy just about the anything . On the shelves you can find all the food and drink you need.
The very big supermarkets are usually on the edge of towns and most people drive to them.
And while tey are there with teir car, customers can buy petrol too.
But not everyone likes supermarkets . Small shops in towns and villages are closing because supermarkets can sell the same things cheaper . So people without cars have less choice.
As a result , the big supermarkets have started to open small shops in town and cities centre.

Unit2: Soap Opera


The most popular British soap operas are Eastenders and Coronation Street. These are popular dramas about the lives of ordinary people . There are usually three to five episodes each week. Many people are addicted to soap operas. They even buy soap opera magazines. Eastenders is set in east end London and has been brodcast at since 1985. Coranation Street is based in Manchester and its the oldest best . It was firts broadcast in1960. Then there is Ermedale which takes in a village.

Unit 1: Scotland


There are four main regions in Britian - England , Nothern Ireland , Wales, and Scotland. Scotland is in th north of Britain and has got a lot of wild, mountains contryside in the Highlands. It's famous for its lakes. Scotland is a part of Britain it's got its own traditions, a different education system and different laws. The unusual instrument known as the bagpipes is also a part a Scotish tradition.
Sport is very important in Scotland . There are lots of golf courses and each year in the Highlands there are Higland Games.
